LACE PATTERN N 10

Hello!

This time, the sets of instructios, both written and charted (for individual blocks and for the seamless version) are the same. The only difference is the amount of repeats for the motif for each version.

ABBREVIATIONS

  • CO: cast on
  • BO: bind off
  • RS: right side
  • WS: wrong side
  • st: stitch
  • k: knit
  • p: purl
  • k2tog: knit 2 sts together
  • skp: slip 1 st as if to knit, knit 1 st, pass the slipped st over
  • yo: yarn over
  • SK2P: slip 1 st as if to knit, k2tog, pass the slipped st over
  • k3tog: knit 3 sts together

INSTRUCTIONS FOR INDIVIDUAL SQUARES

– CO 65 sts with US 6 (4 mm) needles.

I always cast on and bind off stitches with larger needles than I use for the main work. This prevent my cast on and bind off rows from being too tight.

– With US 4 (3,5 mm) needles, knit 6 rows.

Slip first stitch on every row as if you were to knit it, but without knitting it (except on the first row). It will form a neat and sturdy border.

– Continue working as follows:

5 garter sts, LACE PATTERN N°10 over 55 sts, 5 garter sts.

Work 4 times the LACE PATTERN N 10 complete and then rows 1) to 13) again.

– Knit 6 rows.

– Bind off with US 6 (4 mm) needle. Cut yarn and weave in ends.

– Block your square to its final measures.

INSTRUCTIONS TO MAKE THE BLANKET SEAMLESS

  • Work back and forth on circular needles to accommodate all stitches.
  • The following instructions will guide you to make a blanket with 8 rows in garter stitch at the bottom and top ends, and 6 garter stitches at each lateral edge. Feel free to change it to your liking!
  • If you decide to use the provisional cast-on method to add a knitted border after finishing the blanket, cast on 195 sts instead of 200, and proceed to the first lace pattern directly.

AFTER knitting lace pattern N°9 and the garter st rows (or one of the lace patterns separators I shared for the seamless version of this KAL), you’ll have 195 sts again in your needle.

Continue working as follows:

6 garter sts, LACE PATTERN N°10 over 183 sts, 6 garter sts

After knitting the Lace Pattern for 4’’ (10 cm), ending with a WS row, work 4 rows
in garter stitch, increasing 5 sts evenly in the first row (you end up with 200 sts)
and decreasing 5 sts evenly in the last row (you end up with 195 sts again).

I calculated the final length for the seamless blanket assuming that each lace pattern is to be knitted for approx. 4’’ (10 cm), with 4 rows of garter stitch in between lace patterns.

  1. Hi, loving these patterns.
I’ve found a teeny mistake in this square 10 pattern, row 19 square written instructions.
At the very end of the instructions for row 19, there’s a yo k1 skp. It should be yo k1 YO skp.
    Thanks, they are brilliant Kate
