Rainbow Crochet Pattern FREE
I decided to share my Rainbow Crochet pattern FREE after reading that in many places around the world, people in lockdown is hanging rainbows 🌈 in their windows as a message of hope and optimism to cheer up passers-by.
Isn’t that sweet?
Do you live in one of those places?
If you ever checked my shops you might have noticed that I do sell a pattern to make a crochet rainbow. And I use one of the sizes to make my Rainbow Baby Romper:

So, I was thinking: why not share my rainbows with you?
Of course, the PDF versions will remain in my shops, but you can find below the instructions to crochet 3 sizes of nice little rainbows for you, your family, and your friends. And even to make a neighbour smile while passing by your window! 😃
Happy crocheting, my friends!
Love,
Ceci

MATERIALS
– 1 hook D (US) / 3.25 mm for the rainbows.
– 1 hook F (US) / 3.75 or 4 mm for the clouds.
– Sock / Fingering / Baby weighted yarn in red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple.
– White DK or worsted yarn for the clouds.
– Tapestry needle to loose yarn ends and scissors.
You can use other weights of yarn and larger or smaller hooks to obtain different sized rainbows.
Rainbow: SMALL SIZE

– Cut yarn and loose ends with tapestry needle.
Instead of loosing the ends, I find it easier to tie them 2 by 2 with tight knots, and then cut the yarn leaving a 0.25” (0.5 cm) tail. The knots and yarn ends will be covered up by the big cloud.

SMALL CLOUD
(I used turquoise yarn for the following step-by-step tutorial because the stitches look better on the photos 🙂 )
1) With 4 mm hook and white yarn, ch 7.
2) 3 HDC in 3rd ch from hook:

3) skip 1 ch, sl st in next ch:

4) skip 1 ch, (3 HDC, 1 DC, 3 HDC) in next ch:

At the end of this part, you’ll reach the other side of the original chain:

5) skip 1, sl st in next ch, skip 1, (2 HDC, 1 DC) in last ch:

6) join to first HDC with sl st:

Cloud finished! You can now cut the yarn, secure the last ch and loose ends.
LARGE CLOUD
1) With 4 mm hook and white yarn, ch 11.
2) 4 HDC in 3rd ch from hook.
3) (skip 1 ch, sl st in next ch, skip 1 ch, 4 HDC in next ch) 2 times.
4) Make 1 DC and 4 HDC more on last ch worked (this should result on working on the other side of the original chain).
5) skip 1, sl st in next ch, skip 1, 4 HDC in next ch, skip 1, sl st in next ch, skip 1, (3 HDC, 1 DC) in last ch, join to first HDC with sl st.
– Cloud finished! You can now cut the yarn, secure the last ch and loose ends.
You’re ready to embellish lots of works: mug cozies, table mats, towels, hats, baby rompers 😉 …
… and windows!
