We start today with Block 1 of the Beginner Blanket MKAL 2022! 🎉
Please note that I’ll be sharing each block of this MKAL in 2 sizes: “regular” (the one I intended for this year’s blanket squares) and “52SP size” for those of you wanting to increase your 52 Square Pickup collection. Make sure to follow the right instructions for your chosen size 😊

ABBREVIATIONS
- CO: cast on
- BO: bind off
- RS: right side
- WS: wrong side
- st: stitch
- k: knit
- p: purl
REGULAR size
INSTRUCTIONS
– CO 70 sts with US 6 (4 mm) needles.
– With US 4 (3.5 mm) needles, knit 6 rows.
– Continue working as follows:
5 garter sts, BLOCK N°1 pattern over 60 sts, 5 garter sts.
Work 7 times the BLOCK N°1 pattern complete and then rows 1) to 5) again.
– Knit 6 rows.
– Bind off with US 6 (4 mm) needle. Cut yarn and weave in ends.
– Block your square to its final measures. You can read my post on blocking if you need more info.

52SP size
INSTRUCTIONS
– CO 43 sts with US 7 (4.5 mm) needles.
– With US 6 (4 mm) needles, knit 4 rows.
– Continue working as follows:
4 garter sts, BLOCK N°1 (52SP size) pattern over 35 sts, 4 garter sts.
Work 4 times the BLOCK N°1 (52SP size) pattern complete and then rows 1) to 7) again.
– Knit 4 rows.
– Bind off with US 7 (4.5 mm) needle. Cut yarn and weave in ends.
– Block your square to its final measures. You can read my post on blocking if you need more info.

I just found this MKAL and bought the PDF. I am getting back into knitting and love pattern charts and this KAL! Can someone tell me how the blocks are sewn together? Is it just sewing method or is there a way to crochet them together?
