Block 12 Blanket MKAL 2022

Hello!

Originally, I had prepared a block that repeated the celtic cables we have already used but I decided to change them for another kind of cable. And I’m glad I did! 😊 First, because I like to share different things with each pattern. And second, because I love how it looks!

This is the last block of this series. But next Friday I’ll be sharing a few edging options to add to your blanket. After all the hard work we put into knitting each square, I believe the finished blanket deserves the extra effort, don’t you?

ABBREVIATIONS

  • CO: cast on
  • BO: bind off
  • RS: right side
  • WS: wrong side
  • st: stitch
  • k: knit
  • p: purl
  • yo: yarn over
  • k2tog: knit 2 sts together
  • skp: slip 1 st as if to knit, knit 1 st, pass the slipped st over
  • SK2P / sl1, k2tog, psso: slip 1 st as if to knit, k2tog, pass the slipped st over
  • 2B, k2, k2B: slip 2 sts to cable needle and hold in back, k next 2 sts, k2 sts from cable needle.
  • 2F, k2, k2F: slip 2 sts to cable needle and hold in front, k next 2 sts, k2 sts from cable needle.

INSTRUCTIONS

– CO 70 sts with US 6 (4 mm) needles.

– With US 4 (3.5 mm) needles, knit 6 rows. In the last row, increase 3 sts distribuited (74 sts).

– Continue working as follows:

  • 5 garter sts, BLOCK N°12A pattern over 63 sts, 5 garter sts (24 rows)
  • 5 garter sts, BLOCK N°12B pattern over 63 sts, 5 garter sts (24 rows)
  • 5 garter sts, BLOCK N°12A pattern over 63 sts, 5 garter sts (24 rows)
  • 5 garter sts, rows 1) to 17) of BLOCK N°12B pattern over 63 sts, 5 garter sts (17 rows)

– Knit 6 rows, decreasing 3 sts in the first row to return to a total stitch count of 70.

– Bind off with US 6 (4 mm) needle. Cut yarn and weave in ends.

– Block your square to its final measures. You can read my post on blocking if you need more info.

Do you want more squares?

All blocks in my Blanket MKAL 2021 have the same size (stitches and rows) than the one I’ll be sharing this year. So, if you want to make a larger blanket, those squares will be perfect!
