BLOCK 8 of Blanket MKAL 2021

On Block 8 of this year’s project I introduce a very nice technique I call the DOUBLE LOOP. I created a step-by-step photo guide to show it in detail (you can find it HERE) but let me tell you 2 reasons why I love those double loops:

  • they’re very easy to make
  • you end up with an element that looks very similar to a cable but it’s faster to do, and… no cable needle needed! Perfect for commuter knitters 😂

You’ll also find in this block the Front version of the Hachi Twist. If you don’t remember how to make it, take a look at this post.

Ok, let’s go the pattern for…

SPOILER ALERT at the end:

Do you want to see what’s coming next week? At the end of this post, in the very last photo, you can see the next block peeking out in the background 👋 If you don’t want to see it, stop scrolling down when you reach my “SPOILER BELOW” sign there.

Thanks for joining 🙌

And very happy knitting!

INSTRUCTIONS

– CO 70 sts with US 6 (4 mm) needles.

– With US 4 (3.5 mm) needles, knit 6 rows. In the last row, increase 4 sts distribuited (74 sts).

– Continue working as follows:

5 garter sts, BLOCK N°8 pattern over 64 sts, 5 garter sts.

Work 4 times the BLOCK N°8 pattern complete and then rows 1) to 9) again (9 included).

Knit 6 rows, decreasing 4 sts in the first row to return to a total stitch count of 70.

– Bind off with US 6 (4 mm) needle. Cut yarn and weave in ends.

Block your square to its final measures. You can read my post on blocking if you need more info.

To block each square to the same final measures (I did it to 11”) it’s really key for this project.

Not blocked VS. blocked.
