ABBREVIATIONS
- CO: cast on
- RS: right side
- WS: wrong side
- st: stitch
- k: knit
- p: purl
INSTRUCTIONS
– CO 43 sts with US 7 (4.5 mm) needles.
I always cast on and bind off stitches with larger needles than I use for the main work. This prevent my cast on and bind off rows from being too tight. |
– With US 6 (4 mm) needles, knit 4 rows.
Slip first stitch on every row as if you were to knit it, but without knitting it (except on the first row). It will form a neat and sturdy border. |
– Continue working as follows:
4 garter sts, PAW pattern over 35 sts, 4 garter sts (55 rows).
– Knit 4 rows.
– Bind off with US 7 (4.5 mm) needle. Cut yarn and weave in ends.

I want to make a baby blanket with a lion’s head on several blocks and his paw on some of the other blocks that has the format of your pattern. I would be more than happy to pay you – would you be able to make a lion like the one I am attaching?
Thanks in advance
What a great idea, Ceci. I love using the various picture cloth patterns for blanket blocks and I’d love to make one with various wild beasts on it. Africa has some iconic wildlife in addition to the lions.
Hello! loving the blanket squares! just wondering size wise do these fit with the block of xmas? if love to mix and match them together. Thanks
