Block 8 Beginner MKAL 2022
How are you? Enjoying this project so far?
Today’s block is similar to my HERRINGBONE block of the 52SP KAL, but with thinner stripes and in seed stitch.
Replacing a solid reverse jersey stitch element (or even a garter stitch one) for a seed alternative is a great and easy way to tweak a pattern.

- CO: cast on
- BO: bind off
- RS: right side
- WS: wrong side

REGULAR size
INSTRUCTIONS
– CO 70 sts with US 6 (4 mm) needles.
– With US 4 (3.5 mm) needles, knit 6 rows.
– Continue working as follows:
5 garter sts, BLOCK N°8 pattern over 60 sts, 5 garter sts.
Work 7 times the BLOCK N°8 pattern complete and then rows 1) to 5) again.
– Knit 6 rows.
– Bind off with US 6 (4 mm) needle. Cut yarn and weave in ends.
– Block your square to its final measures. You can read my post on blocking if you need more info.

52SP size
INSTRUCTIONS
– CO 43 sts with US 7 (4.5 mm) needles.
– With US 6 (4 mm) needles, knit 4 rows.
– Continue working as follows:
4 garter sts, BLOCK N°8 (52SP size) pattern over 35 sts, 4 garter sts.
Work 4 times the BLOCK N°8 (52SP size) pattern complete and then rows 1) to 7) again.
– Knit 4 rows.
– Bind off with US 7 (4.5 mm) needle. Cut yarn and weave in ends.
– Block your square to its final measures. You can read my post on blocking if you need more info.

Hi Cecelia, I got the email about Block 8 of your beginner blanket — I have paid for the pattern pdfs. Today I was able to download and print the “regular” size pdf but am unable to print the 52sp pdf. I do have it saved on my computer but I would really like to be able to print it out. It downloads but when I go to print it nothing happens.
