This very easy dishcloth pattern is part of the NEW Dishcloth Set N°10. The set includes 2 patterns for beginners (only knits and purls): WINDOW and ARGYLE. And 2 patterns for intermediate knitters, called BASKETWEAVE (intermediate version, different to a previous BASKETWEAVE I designed for beginners), and CABLES AND DIAMONDS. You can find the set here in my shop or in Etsy or Ravelry

All patterns have a “52 Square Pickup” size as most of my dishcloths 😊
The full instructions for “WINDOW” (written and charted) are below.

WINDOW square: General Instructions
– CO 43 sts with US 7 (4.5 mm) needles.
| I always cast on and bind off stitches with larger needles than I use for the main work. This prevent my cast on and bind off rows from being too tight. |
– With US 6 (4 mm) needles, knit 4 rows.
| Slip first stitch on every row as if you were to knit it, but without knitting it (except on the first row). It will form a neat and sturdy border. |
– Continue working the next 55 rows as follows:
Rows 1 to 13): 4 garter sts, SPIKES pattern over 35 sts, 4 garter sts.
Rows 14 to 16): k all sts.
Rows 17 to 40): 4 garter sts, SQUARES pattern over 35 sts, 4 garter sts.
(Work 4 times the SQUARES pattern complete, that is 4 repeats)
Rows 41 to 42): k all sts.
Rows 43 to 55): 4 garter sts, SPIKES pattern over 35 sts, 4 garter sts.
(Therefore, work 4 times the SCATTERED DIAMONDS pattern complete and then rows 1) to 7) again.)
– Knit 4 rows.
– Bind off with US 7 (4.5 mm) needle. Cut yarn and weave in ends.
– Block your square to its final measures (optional).
