LACE PATTERNS SEPARATORS for MYSTERY LACE BLANKET KAL 2020 (seamless version)
I knitted 3 options for separators between lace patterns, in case you wanted something different to the Garter Stitch rows I proposed for the seamless version of the MKAL.
Since we’ll be using 15 different lace patterns, I think it’s important to knit the same separator to connect them, thus providing some homogeneity to the blanket.
Let me know what you think! Do you like them? Will you use any of them? I’ll read your comments below.
- If you choose any of this separators, please NOTE that you should work row 1) AFTER working your last WS row of the lace pattern, without working any additional row.
- Always repeat instructions between brackets.
- I wrote the approximate length of each separator after following these instructions. Of course, you could add more rows if you prefer to increase the length.
- I included the 6 garter sts at each side to avoid confusion.
A) BROKEN RIB separator (1.5” / 3,5 cm)
This lace pattern separator is great if you want something more “solid-looking” between lace patterns.
Row 1) (RS) k all sts while increasing 6 sts evenly (you’ll end up with 201 sts).
Row 2) k all sts
Row 3) k6, [k1, p1], k7
Row 4) k6, p1, [k1, p1], k6
Row 5) k all sts
Row 6) k all sts
Row 7) k6, [k1, p1], k7
Row 8) k6, p1, [k1, p1], k6
Row 9) k all sts
Row 10) k all sts
Row 11) k6, [k1, p1], k7
Row 12) k6, p1, [k1, p1], k6

You’re ready to proceed to the next lace pattern 😊
B) FAN separator (1.5” / 3,5 cm)

Would these be used on the pieced blanket as well? I’m having fun, btw.
No, these are some suggestions for the seamless version. All the squares in the blocks version will have borders of garter st.
I’m happy to hear you’re having fun!! Hugs to you
Thank a million. That is what I thought but wanted to be sure. Your website is so robust that I knew you would have mentioned it if it applied to the block version. Hugs back! Regina
P.S. If I were doing the seamless, I would definitely pick the broken rib.
Thank you! I see we think alike, that’s just what I’m knitting for my seamless blanket 🙂
It’s a nice break from following a chart.
While I’m tempted by the fan pattern (and not just because it was the first lace pattern I learned way back in 1960 something) the broken rib does make more of a contrast against the lace patterns so I will be going with that. Thanks for all the fun Cecilia!
Thank you Dawn! Yes, I believe the same thing about the broken rib 😊 But I included the others because I know some people do like “lace separators” for “lace projects”. This way, I think I’m offering something for everyone taste. xo
