MOCK DROP STITCH pattern: Block 44 of 52SP

PATTERN 44: MOCK DROP STITCH pattern

“Drop stitch” is a nice technique to learn once you are already an experienced beginner. That is: you know the basics (cast on and bind off, knits and purls) very well and you are comfortable knitting. In my case, ages ago, that feeling of comfort took a while to come. I think my main problem was to knit my stitches very tight. Therefore, it was hard to slide them in my needles, and to insert my right needle to knit. After that, I had a period of knitting too loose… And as with any other thing in life, the secret is to find balance

Anyway, as I was saying: “drop stitch” technique! If you don’t know it, you can Google it (try “drop stitch scarf”) to see what I’m talking about. Shortly, it consists in knitting all sts for several rows and then work one row wrapping your yarn in the needle (usually once or twice) between each st. In the next row, you’ll knit the stitches normally and drop the previously wrapped yarn off the needle every time you encounter one. I have a “how to use ‘drop stitch’ technique” tutorial in my blog’s to-do list, but don’t have the time write it yet.

And that’s the reason I decided to make some sort of beginner “drop stitch” looking pattern for block 44 (go to  to find the pattern).

I hope you like it 🙂 I wish all of you a wonderful weekend.

Hugs,

Ceci
