EASY BABY BLOOMERS KNITTING PATTERN

Hello! After a very busy week, I finished testing all sizes for these easy baby bloomers /diaper covers / soakers. Yay!! They’re knitted flat in 1 piece, and the sides are seamed at the end. You can make the eyelets and pass a ribbon (as I did) OR skip that and just go for a simple waist rib.
It’s a very easy and fast knitting project. If you’re a beginner you may find the picking up of stitches for the leg openings a bit challenging, BUT… They also look great without ribbed leg openings! Therefore, it’s up to you 😀

♥ SIZES
(color codes are the same in the instructions section)
– Premie / Newborn. Width: 6.5” (17 cm). Length: 6.25” (16 cm)
– 1 to 6 months. Width: 7” (18 cm). Length: 7” (18 cm)
– 6 to 12 months. Width: 7.5” (19 cm). Length: 8” (20 cm)
– 12 to 18 months. Width: 8” (20 cm). Length: 8.5” (22 cm)
PLEASE NOTE that I measure the bloomers unstretched.

– 1 pair of straight needles US 7 (4.5 mm)
– 1 pair of straight needles US 4 (3.5 mm)
– DK / Light / Worsted yarn.
– Tapestry needle to loose yarn ends and scissors.
♥ GAUGE
19 sts x 25 rows in stocking st with US 7 (4.5 mm) needles = 4” x 4” (10 cm x 10 cm)
♥ ABBREVIATIONS
CO: cast on
St: stitch
p: purl
k: knit
k2tog: knit 2 sts together
p2tog: purl 2 sts together

INSTRUCTIONS
– CO 34 (36, 38, 40) sts with US 7 (4.5 mm) needles.
| I always cast on and bind off stitches with larger needles than I use for the main work. This prevent my cast on and bind off rows from being too tight. |
– With US 4 (3.5 mm) needles knit 6 rows in k2/p2 rib.
| Slip first stitch on every row as if you were to knit it, but without knitting it (except on the first row). It will form a nicer border. |
– Next row: k2, *p2tog, yo, k2** Repeat from * to ** until the end of row, ending with k2 or p2.
(NOTE: if you started your rib with p2, then work *k2tog, yo, p2** instead.)
– Keep working in 2×2 rib until total length of 2” (5 cm).
– Change to US 7 (4.5 mm needles) and work in stocking stitch with 1 garter stitch at each border until total length of 3.75” (9.5 cm) / 4.25” (11 cm) / 5” (13 cm) / 6” (15 cm)
– Keep knitting as before while making decreases at each side as follows.
- Bind off 2 sts at the beginning of every row 10 (10, 12, 12) times.
- Bind off 1 st at the beginning of next row 2 (2, 2, 0) times.
– 12 (14, 14, 14) sts remain in needle.
– Knit 1.5” (4cm) in stocking st with 1 garter st at each border. In next RS row, begin increases:
- Cast on 1 st at the end of each row 2 (2, 2, 0) times.
- Cast on 2 sts at the end of every row 10 (10, 12, 12) times.
– Now you have again 34 (36, 38, 40) sts in needle.
– Work the same amount of rows in stocking st with 1 garter st at each side that you knitted before decreasing.
– Change to US 4 (3.5 mm) needles and make rib 2×2 as you did before.
– Bind off sts with US 7 (4 mm) needles.
– Cut yarn and loose ends with tapestry needle.
So far, your baby bloomer will look like this:
FINISHING
A) If you like it as it is, you can sew the sides using the knots left by the garter stitches:
– Loose yarn ends and ENJOY!
B) If you want to knit the leg opening rib:
– With US 4 (3.5 mm) needles, pick up 38 (40, 42, 42) stitches from RS along the future leg opening, as indicated in the next photo:
– Knit 0.75” (2 cm) of 2 x 2 rib. Bind off with US 7 (4.5 mm) needles.
– Repeat in the other side.
– Sew sides as indicated above, loose yarn ends and ENJOY!

Seed Stitch Dishcloth FREE KNITTING PATTERN – OhLaLana!

Today I wanted to share my Moss Stitch / Seed Stitch Dishcloth free knitting pattern.
Seed stitch is my favorite pattern for washcloths, since it combines an extra absorbent texture with a great scrubbie power. Plus is very easy to make!!
So, if you’re a knitter in search of an easy and quick project, either for yourself or to make some wonderful gifts, this is for you!
♥ FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
8.75’’ (22.5 cm) square
You can easily modify these measures.
♥ MATERIALS
– 1 straight needle US 8 (5 mm) for Cast on and Bind Off
– 1 pair of straight needles US 7 (4.5 mm)
– Approx. 110 yd (100 m) of Worsted / Aran yarn.
– Tapestry needle to loose yarn ends and scissors.
– OPTIONAL: stitch markers.
♥ GAUGE
18.5 sts x 25 rows in stocking st with US 7 (4.5 mm) needles = 4” x 4” (10 cm x 10 cm)
(Although gauge is not very important in this project…)
♥ ABBREVIATIONS
CO: cast on
St: stitch
P: purl
K: knit
♥ INSTRUCTIONS
– CO 40 sts with US 8 (5 mm) needles.
| I always cast on and bind off stitches with larger needles than I use for the main work. This prevent my cast on and bind off rows from being too tight. |
– With US 7 (4.5 mm) needles knit 6 rows (Garter Stitch preparation rows).
| Slip first stitch on every row as if you were to knit it, but without knitting it (except on the first row). It will form a nicer border. |
– Work (5 garter st, 30 seed sts, 5 garter st) each row, until you reach the desired length for your washcloth.
Seed Stitch
Seed stitch consists of single knits and purls that alternate horizontally and vertically.
Row 1) * k1, p1 ** Repeat from * to ** until the end of row.
Row 2) * p1, k1 ** Repeat from * to ** until the end of row.
Repeat these 2 rows.
– Knit 6 rows (Garter Stitch ending rows).
– Bind Off with US 8 (5 mm) needles.
– Cut yarn and loose ends with tapestry needle.

Rainbow Crochet Playmat FREE PATTERN – OhLaLana!
Hello there,
I decided to start this blog by posting my crochet playmat free pattern. This rug is one of the most popular items in my shop Yaguareté. You can see it in Etsy here: RAINBOW CROCHET PLAYMAT. It will certainly brighten up any room! And is perfect to decorate Montessori and Waldorf classrooms. Of course, you can make it with any other color combination, like the pink one I show you at the end of this post.
If you are crochet beginner willing to learn how to make increases and work in circles, this is a great pattern to acquire and perfect your skills.
Rainbow Crochet Playmat FREE PATTERN & Tutorial
The final measure of this crochet playmat is approx 37” (94 cm) of diameter, but you can easily modify this. Write me a message in the comments box if you have any questions or need help.
MATERIALS
– 1 hook L (US) / 8 mm
– 1 hook M (US) / 9 mm
– Chunky / Bulky weighted yarn in purple, turquoise, green, yellow, orange and red.
– Tapestry needle to loose yarn ends and scissors.
TECHNIQUES AND ABBREVIATIONS
ch: chain
sl st: slip stitch
SC: single crochet (US) / double crochet (UK)
DC: double crochet (US) / treble (UK)
INSTRUCTIONS
Ready? Grab your L (8 mm) hook!! Our crochet playmat begins with a Magic Circle. If you are not familiar with this, you can check this photo tutorial I’ve found in Pinterest: CLICK HERE
1) With purple yarn, make a single magic circle. Crochet 3 ch (count as 1 DC) and 11 DC inside the circle. Pull yarn to close the circle and join with sl st to 3rd chain (12 DC).
2) ch 3 (count as 1st DC) and make 2 DCs in each DC from the previous round. Join with sl st to 3rd chain (24 DC).
3) ch3, * DC in next DC, 2 DC in next DC ** repeat from * to ** until the end of round (36 DC). Join next color (turquoise in the photo) with sl st to 3rd chain:
4) ch 3, * DC in each of next 2 DC, 2 DC in next DC ** repeat from * to ** until the end of round. Join with sl st to 3rd chain.
Continue working increasing the number of single DCs before 2 DCs on the same DC: in round 5) you’ll make * DC in each of next 3 DC, 2 DC in next DC **, in round 6) you’ll make * DC in each of next 4 DC, 2 DC in next DC **, and so on.
For the playmat in the photo I worked 4 rounds of each color, except purple (3 rounds).
Once you crochet 4 rounds of red, change hook to M (9 mm) and work 1 round of SC in each DC. The change of hook is made to prevent the border of the rug from being too tight and fold either downwards or upwards.
Cut yarn, fasten off, and enjoy!!!
SUMMARY OF COLORS & ROUNDS
Purple: 3 rounds of DCs.
Turquoise, Green, Yellow and Orange: 4 rounds of DCs in each color.
Red: 4 rounds DC + 1 round SC
Of course, you can make this rug in any color combination you can think of. Here’s a pink one, made to order to match a baby girl’s nursery:
